Dear colleagues,

It is a pleasure to invite you to the 2025 Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Congress, being held June 26-29 at the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park. CureSHANK is teaming up with the Spanish Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Association for the event. The PMS Drug Development Symposium (for the scientific community) will be held June 26 – 27, and the Conference (for families, researchers and health professionals) will be held June 28-29. 

We are at a historic moment in neurodevelopmental disorders.  With multiple precision medicines in clinical trials for disorders such as Rett syndrome, Angelman syndrome, and Phelan-McDermid syndrome (PMS), we are hopeful and optimistic that better quality of life is within reach for many individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders.  Between us and cures is still a long, bumpy, uphill path, but we are confident that an ecosystem which fosters collaboration among academia, industry and patient advocacy optimizes our collective success.  We hope the symposium will enable new connections and fruitful partnerships. 

We’ve designed a symposium agenda that spans everything from foundational knowledge of PMS to the latest developments in biomarkers, outcome measures, and clinical trials.  We’ve included time for group discussion about clinical trials infrastructure and clinical trials readiness in Europe.  On the evening of June 26, we’ll hold a poster reception, to which we invite you to submit an abstract.  The symposium will be held in English.  The family conference will be held in English and Spanish, with simultaneous translations in several languages.
